The Tour caravan
Since 1930, the advertising caravan has been part of the spectacle of the Tour de France. The festive, creative opening parade precedes the peloton of cyclists, much to the delight of roadside Tour fans. For two hours, the Tour de France and its partners put on a show, handing out gifts and competing in creativity to surprise the millions of fans waiting for the riders to pass by!
A responsible caravan
All partners distribute useful promotional gifts made from recycled and/or recyclable materials. Food gifts have also taken up the challenge of having packaging made mainly of paper or recyclable plastic.
In certain "Natura 2000" protected areas, National Parks, nature reserves... the distribution of gifts by the caravan is totally forbidden.
And the sound system may be interrupted to avoid disturbing sensitive animal species.
At the heart of the Tour
The Tour de France caravan is :
- Over 30 minutes of continuous shows
- 10km of entertainment
- 30 brands represented
- 4 safety info cars that open and close the caravan
- 12 Republican Guards and 4 motorcycle regulators
- 3 medical vehicles ...
Watch the caravan go by and cheer on your favourite champions, but don't forget the essential safety rules!
- Keep to the side of the road
- Don't cross the road or leave your children unattended.
- Gifts are distributed on both sides.
- Remain vigilant after the caravan has passed, as other vehicles are expected on the route.
- Respect the Tour's eco-responsibility and don't throw your garbage on the roadside.
- Don't run alongside runners or push them
- Selfies and autographs are not allowed
Memories are just as important in the mind, so that the Tour remains a party!
